Old Country Road Elementary students in Hicksville recently took part in a special “Box Out Bullying” assembly where they learned to confront bullying through a live interactive theater performance. The performance made the students laugh, cheer and
think.
Students learned to define bullying and identify the different ways in which someone could be bullied. Throughout the program, students were introduced to rules aimed to help stop bullying, such as telling an adult and trying to include others who may be left out. Additionally, the actors encourage students to develop empathy, solve problems, and become resilient students and empowered bystanders.
The program supports the antibullying initiatives and learning that takes place in the school in a fun and entertaining way.
