Qualifications for Absentee Voting

If you cannot get to the polls on budget and trustee vote day, which is May 21, 2024, you may still vote by using an absentee ballot. However, you must meet the following qualifications to vote via absentee ballot:

- Absent from Nassau County due to employment or business reasons, duties, studies, or vacation on the date of the vote (May 21, 2024). OR
- Unable to appear at the polls due to temporary or permanent illness or disability. OR
- Detained in jail awaiting Grand Jury action or awaiting trial or confined in prison after conviction for an offense other than a felony.

Instructions for Voting by Absentee Ballot

- Call the Office of the District Clerk at 516-364-5758 to request an Absentee Ballot
Application. OR
- Mail a request for an Absentee Ballot Application to the Attn: District Clerk, Administration Building, 200 Division Avenue, Hicksville, NY 11801. (The completed application must be received no later than seven days before the election if the ballot is to be mailed.)

Return the Completed Application

- No earlier than April 22, 2024.
- Return your completed Hicksville School District Absentee Ballot Application to: Attn: District Clerk, Administration Building, 200 Division Avenue, Hicksville, NY 11801.  After review of your application and once the ballots are ready, your absentee ballot will be available.

- If you wish your Absentee Ballot to be mailed to you, the application must be received at least seven days before the election and the Absentee Ballot will be mailed to you at least six days before the election. OR
- If you or your agent wish to pick up the Absentee Ballot in person, the application must be received no later than the day before the election. Please call the district clerk’s office to make sure our ballot is ready. You may pick it up from Administration Building, 200 Division Avenue, Hicksville, NY 11801.
- Note: An Absentee Ballot can only be delivered to the individual applying for the Absentee Ballot or his/her designated agent.

To actually VOTE

- Place the completed ballot in the official ballot envelope.
- Sign and Date the back of the official ballot envelope that the ballot was placed in.
- Seal the official ballot envelope.
- Insert the sealed and completed official ballot envelope in the envelope addressed to the District Clerk, Hicksville Public School District, which is provided.

This envelope may be hand-delivered or postage may be affixed to the envelope and mailed to the

In accordance with the law, the office of the District Clerk must receive the absentee
ballot no later than 5:00 p.m. on May 21, 2024.
