The Nassau County Police Department has alerted schools to a viral social media trend involving creepy, AI-generated images and videos of the “Cat in the Hat.” Some posts claim the character is coming to specific neighborhoods or schools and may include threatening language.
These posts can create unnecessary fear and alarm. Please remind your children not to create, share or repost threatening content. Any concerning post should be reported immediately to a trusted adult, school administrator or law enforcement.
